Meet the Inline Electric Team: Hands-On Masters Who Treat Every Job Like Family
We're a tight-knit crew of skilled trades pros who grew up with tools in our hands, building things the right way from day one. No big corporate feel—just honest, decisive work from people who believe family helps family.
Hello, I'm Jeff Gilchrist
I'm the founder and master electrician at Inline Electric. For over 25 years, I've been wiring homes across Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, and Woodstock—turning flickering lights into steady glows, old panels into future-proof powerhouses, and worried homeowners into happy families.
We take careful consideration with every single job, big or small. Your home isn't just a project; it's where your life happens. That's why we show up on time, explain everything straight (no jargon or upsell), work tidy as can be, and leave the place spotless.
Our satisfied clients—families, neighbours, even other trades pros we partner with—are proof: we build trust that lasts.

Our Roots: Growing Up Building, Becoming Masters
The founding members didn't start in classrooms—we started in garages, backyards, and job sites, tinkering, fixing, and learning the hard way that electricity doesn't forgive shortcuts. We grew into masters the traditional route: elbows deep in real work, hands-on every step. That grit shaped us: decisive when safety's on the line, tough on quality, but always fair and approachable.
We've specialized in residential electrical for years—panel upgrades, knob & tube re-wires, service entrances, basement renos, pot lights, aluminum fixes—you name it. Trained under provincially licensed pros with decades in the field, we bring that same commitment to every home in our areas: Kitchener-Waterloo's solid bungalows, Cambridge's charming older builds, Woodstock's growing family spots.

The Path We Walked: Becoming Licensed Pros in Ontario
Becoming an Electrician
It starts with signing on as an apprentice, working hands-on alongside a master for two years. Then one term of electrical trade school, back to work for another year, and after five years plus three full terms of college, you're ready for the provincial licensing exam.
Becoming a Master Electrician
Carry a valid electrician license for two full years, take advanced courses, and pass the master electrician exams. Then you're qualified to apply for your Ontario electrical contractor provincial license.
Becoming an Electrical Contractor
Secure full liability insurance and WSIB clearance. With your master license, contractor license, insurance, and clearance in hand, you can legally pull ESA permits and deliver safe, compliant jobs.
We've completed every step—no shortcuts. Fully licensed, insured, WSIB-cleared, and proud ESA-approved pros.
Featured in HOMES+ Magazine
Our full-home renovation work was showcased in HOMES+ "Custom Executive" — a proud moment recognizing the quality and craftsmanship our team brings to every project.

A Little Tough Love (With a Grin)
Electricity doesn't play nice with "good enough." We've seen the fallout from rushed jobs: fires, insurance headaches, midnight blackouts. That's why we're tough: we calculate loads precisely, permit everything properly, inspect twice, and deliver work that lasts generations.
But we do it with a smile—because life's too short for bad wiring or bad attitudes. You want pros who care like family, work like masters, and laugh off the occasional "live wire" story? That's the Inline team.
Family helps family. We're here to help yours stay safe, powered, and bright.
